Injustice and bias based on any grounds; especially extreme forms of segregation such as the loss of life due to the color of one’s skin can leave us all brokenhearted, devastated and short of hope and courage. The intense pain so many of us are enduring makes us all bleed and feel ever so deeply for what appears to be out of tune with the beat of the human heart is just too hard to bear without prompting us to action.

As we all face the new reality in front of us, we all have a different response and ways to adapt to the overwhelming and challenging circumstances in front and ahead of us. Fear of the unknown can often have the common reaction to paralyze us and bring us to a state of sudden panic. Yet, there are other more healthy ways to respond to situations of crisis.

Christmas, New Year: The Holiday Season, may mean different things to each of us depending on our personal beliefs, traditions and ideas; however, we all recognize this time of the year as an opportunity to open our hearts to celebrate all which needs to be honored and cherished.

Just like the trees make use of this precious colder Fall weather to exhibit their most delightful shades of colors, each of us should take this time to sit under our favorite tree and take a few full yogi breaths to meditate on which of our inner personal colors we wish to bring forward to shine to the world and to celebrate our own inner beauty…

The nature of the mind is one which is constantly and actively busy, sending us messages, recorded tapes so to speak. filled with information about what we are doing, who we are, what we should be doing and  constantly reminding us of all our regrets about the past or unfulfilled expectations about the future. Yoga teaches us to learn to control the mind and to step in to be the masters of our thoughts.
