Being A Superhero!

Being A Superhero!

We all have our own versions from being kids as to what it takes to be a Superhero; and we have all had an ideal Superhero role model at some point in our lives. Usually we are attracted to certain Superheroes based on the superpowers we value the most. After all, it is the Superpowers themselves the thing which make a Superhero be considered and viewed as a Superhero in the first place.

The inspiration to write this came from my 5-year-old son who just started JK. The other day he came back from school full of excitement telling me: “Mom! Mom, I am a Superhero who doesn’t need a disguise!”

“Oh! Really?” I replied intrigued… “So, what kind of Superhero are you then?” I asked full of curiosity.

He looked at me confidently and stood proud and tall as he responded: “The kind of Superhero with invisible Superpowers!”

“Aha! I see,” I continued still amazed and yet still wondering. So I asked him further: “So, what is your Superpower then?”

Once again, he took a pause, made himself appear even bigger and taller and full of self-assurance he finally replied proudly: “My Superpower is L-O-V-E!!!!” full of excitement and passion.

I was pleasantly shocked and yet so proud myself as a mom to hear such words of wisdom come from his little body and mind. What a strong spirit! What conviction! I told him, “This is the best Superhero anyone can aspire to be! It’s wonderful!”

Before I could say much more, he interrupted me to express, “Mom, my Superpowers can conquer it all and being invisible nobody could fight against them. You see, mom, love could conquer it all!”

He and his belief in love and the superpowers contain in it has been my inspiration to bring this true story forward and share it with all who occasionally feel they would like to find a role to identify with and to look up to that Superhero who can overcome it all; well that Superhero is inside of all us, deep in our hearts and imprinted in our souls. My son has discovered it and taken full possession of his inner superpower at this young age. And we can all do the exact same too!

Perhaps next time we are feeling down, week or simply in need of some inspiration we can remember to reawaken that Superhero hiding inside all of use and reclaim our Superpower: LOVE!
